Description
An afternoon lookout over the major part of Tel Aviv city just before sunset time. Soon, the clouds would be covering the city with a soft breeze and the night will begin.
This scene features the old city houses in front and the rising skyscrapers at the horizon while the last rays of light are finding their way through the city buildings. Tel Aviv is an open air museum exhibiting an impressive display of international style buildings and Bauhaus architecture.
Due to the extensive Bauhaus architecture buildings, Tel Aviv was declared a World Cultural Heritage site by Unesco in 2003. This building style became frequent in the 1930s because the city architects had strong links to the European architectural trends.
As a modern metropolis Tel Aviv dates back only to 1909, the city has around 20 museums, and the hosts the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra and the Israeli Opera company, as well as most of the national dance and theater companies.
Tel Aviv is sometimes called "The city that never stops" by tourists and locals alike. It has a wide range of pubs, bars, clubs and it is known worldwide for its nightlife. Tel Aviv-Yafo of today has developed a unique style combining the best of both a relaxed Mediterranean seaside town with an edgy urban vibe.
